The “Strada del vino dell’Etna” Trail
A captivating enogastronomic tour in Sicily to discover Etna DOC wines
Palazzo Sangiorgio, thanks to its strategic location in the centre of Catania, is the ideal starting point to experience the “Strada del Vino dell’Etna” trail, an enogastronomic tour discovering the wines of this part of Sicily, with their strong and distinct flavours reflecting the land from which they originate.
The experience involves more than 20 companies producing Etna DOC, a wine derived from four native grape varieties: Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Mantellato, Carricante, and Catarratto, whose cultivation is tied to the favourable climatic conditions created by the proximity of the volcano.
The journey takes you through ancient towns like Riposto, Giarre, Randazzo, Nicolosi, and Castiglione di Sicilia, where a winemaking culture has been passed down from generation to generation, making wine a valuable trade product for the inhabitants of these regions for millennia.
During the itinerary, in addition to being guided through picturesque vineyard walks, you can visit wineries, farms, wine shops, and wine museums, tasting local productions and learning about the region and its fruits through the engagement of all senses.
